Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Embrace
For centuries, dogs have been known to be human’s best companions. The streets of India have been inhabited by many dogs and are often referred to as the Indie breed.
They are alone, abandoned and often abused. Our aim is to improve their lives by ensuring proper access to all the basic amenities and proper healthcare. To achieve our goal, we will build a network of healthcare professionals, animal activists, social workers and animal lovers who would actively volunteer in our venture.
Stray dogs deserve love and care. We will spread these words of kindness through webinars, workshops and social media. We will also invite families to share their stories of adoption and journey into being proud pet parents. The inspired souls who will come to us for adopting stray and rescue dogs; will be connected to various animal shelters available in their vicinity. Dog shelters often run short on donations; we aspire to raise funds and give donations in the form of food, blankets, first-aid kits, etc.
Additionally, we will raise awareness regarding the vaccinations available for dogs via the means of social media and by collaborating with an NGO to conduct vaccination drives. Through webinars and workshops conducted by respective professionals in their fields, we wish to spread awareness and educate the masses on animal cruelty, canine cancer, vaccinations, health and nutrition in dogs, etc. Quite often, dogs and puppies who are run over by vehicles do not receive immediate medical attention. Keeping that in mind, we will invite renowned veterinarians to conduct a hands-on workshop on how to provide first aid and perform CPR on dogs.
Through this project, we will reach out to as many dogs as possible who are in need of help, become the voice of the voiceless, and spread love and compassion.
