Millennium Fellowship Project: GROWING LEVEL OF SEXAUL TRANSMISSIBLE DISEASE AMONGST UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
As a student at the University Bamenda, I found out during my last volunteering program at an NGO (Healthifirst ), on hepatitis B at a health center close to the university , that there's a great surge in sexually transmissible diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B, Chlamydia etc. Given that others STIs could easily manifest and the students get admitted and treated, many leave with silent diseases such as hepatitis B and could easily transmit it to others without knowing their status and it was only diagnosed during Free screening for those who showed up and for others when it was already a chronic stage with organ damage involve.
So my project is to create awareness on STIs especially silent disease such as hepatitis B in my university campus. Getting students conscious of the fact that, knowing their health status is very vital.
And my target is to sensitive 1000+ students
between the age of 15-25years at Bambili and to let the students see the need of knowing their health status not only for a year, but always. Reaching out to both sexually and non sexually active youths. And also they can also help others to get sensitive and know their health status.
My project is intended to run for for 1year.
