Millennium Fellowship Project: BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN CLASSROOM AND NEWSROOM

The project sets out to bridge the gap between training next-generation journalists and the realities in the newsroom. It aims at improving students' competencies particularly those interested in journalism to fit in the newsroom environment .
One of its foci is to complement academic training with job enabling-skills in the newsroom environment, by inviting industry experts those who have accomplished greatly in the media industry in Nigeria to share their experience,insights and knowledge to the participants.
Specifically, the intent of the project was borne out of passion to revive campus journalism network in Bayero University,Kano state ,Nigeria. It helps to enhance both academic excellence and professional excellence in journalism. Basically, it aims to herald campus journalism amongst students of Bayero University.

About the Millennium Fellow

Abdullahi Abdullateef is a final year student from Department of Mass Communication, Bayero University,Kano,Nigeria. He is a writer and student-journalist interested in Science and Health Communication. He is an alumnus of Aspire leaders programme founded at Harvard u
University . His works have featured on both national and international platforms.

As well, he was selected as Campus Journalism Fellow for the 2023 Africa Foundation for Young Media Professionals (AFYMP) media fellowship. He is an advocate for Quality Education (SDG 4) in creating meaningful impact in bridging gap between training next-generation journalists and the newsroom realities.
