Millennium Fellowship Project: THE ALMAJIRI ENTERPRENEUR
The Almajiri system has been a longstanding tradition in northern Nigeria, where young children leave their homes to study in Islamic schools, often living in destitute conditions and lacking access to basic education and essential skills for their future. Recognizing the need to uplift these children and provide them with tools for a better life, our team embarked on a mission to empower 50 Almajiri children in a Kano community.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
To provide basic education to Almajiri children, including literacy and numeracy skills.
To equip the children with vocational skills that can enable them to earn a livelihood.
To raise awareness and engage the local community in supporting these children’s education and development.
