Millennium Fellowship Project: CURBING ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE
Increase awareness about antimicrobial resistance among senior secondary school students in Darmanawa community of Taurani LGA of Kano State by 40% within the present academic year(2023/2024).
By the end of the academic year, implement a series of educational workshops and interactive sessions on antimicrobial resistance in five senior secondary schools, reaching a total of 1,000 students.
Monitor progress through pre- and post-workshop assessments to measure knowledge gain, and conduct a follow-up survey six months after the workshops to evaluate the retention of knowledge and behavioral changes regarding the use of antibiotics.
The objective is to achieve a 40% reduction in unnecessary antibiotic consumption and a 50% increase in students' knowledge about the appropriate use of antibiotics, as measured by post-program assessments."
About the Millennium Fellow
Garba Joshua Adamu is a fourth year medical student of Bayero University Kano in Kano State Nigeria. Joshua is passionate about how he can cause improvement in the health status of individuals in his immediate environment. Being a native of Northern Nigeria most of his education has been in this region which has afforded him the opportunity to see firsthand what a poor hygiene lifestyle could affect someone's health hence his passion. After his graduation he desires to gets masters in public health so as to help him on this cause.
