The name of our project is Waste Management and Sanitation.
The aim of this project is to ensure clean and healthy condition of our immediate environment and safe water drinking for all.
The waste management and Sanitation project focuses on addressing the global water crisis, particularly in Nigeria, as waste, especially non-degradable are dumped in our water bodies making them unsafe and unhealthy for drinking. It also focuses on the clean and healthy condition of our immediate environment, in this case, our school campus. It also aims at improving waste management and the implementation of sanitation practices, controlling improper waste disposal.
The project was done in our school community, to improve the health and wellbeing of students and other members of the school community.
We focused on the school entrance. We sourced for some suitable cleaning equipment such as brooms, rakes, disposal bags, gloves and face masks. It involved the sweeping, picking and gathering of both degradable waste and non-degradable waste at the school entrance. After this was done, we separated the waste based on the level of degradability in different bags. Then the degradable waste was properly disposed. The non-degradable waste, such as plastic bottles, plastic bags (sachets), leathers, etc were then taken for recycling.
