Millennium Fellowship Project: AMWA Education Initiative
The AMWA Education Initiative is a project I started this year to increase access to medical education to high school students to inspire them to pursue a career in medicine. AMWA is the American Medical Women’s Association – an organization I am a part of and started this project through. My project was aimed towards SDG #4 and 5. My goal was to be able to provide safe spaces for girls to learn about health professional fields and receive guidance and mentorship to actualize their goals. I wanted to bring compassion, kindness, and enthusiasm to these meetings to show younger girls they can achieve whatever goals they set out. As my project evolved, it became less about only girls but broadened to any students from underrepresented groups in the medical field.
