Millennium Fellowship Project: The EmpowerHer Project
The EmpowerHer project is a project aimed at sensitizing young girls in the Bowen community on gender equality. The project was focused on empowering and enlightening the girl child on SDG 5; target 5.4- VALUE UNPAID CARE AND PROMOTE SHARED DOMESTIC RESPONSIBILITIES and target 5.5- ENSURE FULL PARTICIPATION IN LEADERSHIP AND DECISION-MAKING. The young girls in the Bowen University International School were educated on the need for them to value unpaid care, promote shared domestic responsibilities and ensure full participation in leadership and decision-making. The team encouraged the girls to participate in leadership activities, making them understand that they can and should be included in leadership. We introduced them to successful women who have broken barriers and achieved success in thier fields.
About the Millennium Fellow
Iyanuoluwa Odedeji is a passionate individual with diverse talents and a background in Healthcare, Volunteerism, Sustainable Development Goal advocacy and Leadership.
He’s currently studying Medicine and Surgery at Bowen University, he also obtained a graduate degree in Anatomy from the same institution. With a strong belief in Practical Christian Living and Excellence in Leadership, Iyanuoluwa has held various leadership roles, including the 2022 Bowen University One Day Vice Chancellor, making a positive impact on staff and students.
Through his project, he would be empowering the mind of young females on Leadership Inclusiveness and their roles in Global Development.
