Millennium Fellowship Project: Heritage Memory
Our project is to recreate heritage sites in Türkiye, including ancient cities in the plan. Our main goal to eternalize these places on the metaverse is to make them accessible to the whole country and world. Moreover, recreate their image online “protecting” them from eventual damages from climate change and natural disasters. We aim to make these sites as accessible as possible. We added guided tours making the sites interactive. To achieve accessibility to these guided tours we added a variety of language choices. In addition to the audio, subtitles, audio descriptions and sign language support. Also, one of our main goals in recreating these sites online is to show the importance is protecting and keeping alive our culture through our cultural heritage.
About the Millennium Fellow
Anna Canatan is a senior Translation and Interpreting student at Çağ University in Türkiye. She is passionate about learning languages and cross-cultural connections. Eager to bridge gaps between cultures, she envisions a world united by quality communication and information equality. Anna's academic pursuits extend to impactful endeavours: her research on translating climate change for vulnerable communities, involvement in countering hate speech through narratives and volunteering for humanitarian translation-related initiatives. With her skills as a translator and communicator, she is determined to contribute to the dissemination of high-quality information and the promotion of knowledge equality.
