Millennium Fellowship Project: The Pamoja Project

The Pamoja Project provides a comprehensive university application program for East African 6th form students hoping to attend elite universities on scholarship.

The project is intended for students in the last two years of high school who would like to go abroad to university but are unsure about the application process and how to secure scholarships. Under the guidance of African students attending competitive institutions, these students will receive group and one-on-one support to complete their applications and look for scholarships. The program is entirely free, and tutors work on a voluntary basis.

The program will involve sessions such as:

Writing personal statements/common applications
How to prepare for entry exams/interviews
How to look for university courses
How to look for scholarships
Talks with African students at elite universities about their experiences

Students will also have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a tutor on their application, receiving feedback and advice on ways to improve.

The project is called the Pamoja Project because it is about expanding the futures of East African students together. It is about going out into the world and putting Africa on the map together.
