Millennium Fellowship Project: Animal Vagabond Trust
In urban centers like Bangalore, the issue of stray dogs is a multifaceted challenge that not only affects the well-being of the animals but also raises concerns about public health and safety. Recognizing the urgency of addressing this issue, a social impact project was initiated to rescue and relocate stray dogs to a shelter home in Bangalore.
Objectives:
Rescue and Rehabilitation: The primary goal of the project was to rescue stray dogs from the streets of Bangalore, especially those facing health issues, malnutrition, or cruelty. Once rescued, the focus shifted to providing immediate medical attention, nourishment, and rehabilitation to prepare them for a transition to a shelter home.
Community Awareness: A crucial aspect of the project was to create awareness and understanding within the community about the challenges faced by stray dogs. Educational campaigns were conducted to encourage responsible pet ownership, promote sterilization, and dispel myths surrounding these animals.
Collaboration with Local Authorities: To ensure the project's sustainability and effectiveness, collaboration with local authorities, including municipal bodies and veterinary services, was established. This cooperation aimed at streamlining the process of rescue, medical care, and shelter placement.
