Millennium Fellowship Project: Wom-en-vironment
This project was divided into 2 major wings. The first focused on achieving
environmental preservation by utilising the strengths of rarely acknowledged
stakeholders. A simple example is the focus laid on using women-led initiatives and
lessons to work in the most efficient manner. As all of us know every time you contact your mom, aunt or grandmom for advice they always have ways of achieving the best result and getting the task completed with the least available resources or even using substitutes. I believe tapping into such learning to find environmentally sustainable ways of living with the least amount of pressure on our existing resources can be the first step in promoting environmental preservation. This aspect shall also help achieve the dual benefit of women's inclusion and provide them with a platform to socialise, bond and feel heard. The second wing of the project shall focus on enhancing awareness regarding environmental sustainability through constant awareness camos and various forms of available media. While currently we observe a large number of initiatives emerge to promote environmental sustainability there also exists another half of the world that has absolutely no clue about their impact or ways that can be used to reduce them. Quite a chunk of the population does wish to move to a sustainable way of living but doesn't know where to find feasible and economical alternatives. The awareness initiative shall focus on bridging this gap and ensuring people willing and working to achieve environmental sustainability have all the tools and information required to attain the same.
