The Y-Moves project is a powerful initiative jointly led by Plan International and Youth
Engagement For Sustainability (YES) Bangladesh, dedicated to creating a gender-equal society in Bangladesh. This inspiring project aims to empower youth and children to
become agents of change, building their capacity and mobilizing them to tackle critical
issues of women empowerment, SRHR, and child rights.
What makes Y-Moves stand out is its unique approach to community development. By focusing on the capacity-building of young people through targeted training and
sessions, the project creates a ripple effect that reaches far beyond the initial
participants. As these newly empowered youth and children go out into their own
communities, they share their knowledge and awareness, raising the bar for gender
equality and social justice across Bangladesh.

About the Millennium Fellow

I am Safayet Zamil Nowshan. I am passionate about rights & rights based approach to social inequalities.
Recently I have been selected as one of the 15 UN Youth Champion for Disarmament by United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs(UNODA). The ODA selected 15 champions from over 1000 applications from over 128 countries.
Prior to this I had been working as a Youth Advisory Group Member of United Nations Human Rights, which provided me with the opportunities to join Asia Pacific Regional Dialogue on Human Rights, Bangkok, EU NGO Forum on Human Rights, Brussels, UN High Level Event on 75th Anniversary of UDHR at Geneva. These engagements armed me with the knowledge of the global architecture of Human Rights mechanism and global advocacy procedures. With my prior experience in working at community level throughout my Millennium Fellowship journey gave me opportunities to engage with young people from different background and understand local context. As well as I am working with the Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network(CYPAN) which also is a driving factor to understand the necessity of disarmament for global Peace.
