Millennium Fellowship Project: Period Doesn't Stop for Poverty
Period poverty is not only the poverty of an access to menstrual products, hygiene facilities, but also, a poverty of sex education as well as people’s consideration for menstrual issues. Besides relieving period poverty temporarily through direct donation of menstrual products, we also hope to alleviate the problem fundamentally by addressing sex education and arousing public attention.
About the Millennium Fellow
Chaoying Li is a senior from Duke Kunshan University, majoring in behavioral science with tracks in psychology. She is enthusiastic about promoting gender equality, and considering the special situation of the salient rural-urban differences in China, she is especially interested in breaking down information barriers to update gender-related ideologies of underprivileged women. Through her millennium fellowship project, she intends to alleviate gender inequality by providing underprivileged female students with technical knowledge and destigmatization of the situation that only belongs to women: menstruation.
