Millennium Fellowship Project: The Right Reaction: Basic Counseling Skills

This project would teach students how to react to their peers experiencing a mental health crisis. The point would be to teach basic counseling skills, help the audience be educated on mental health, and know how to point a suffering individual in the right direction. I plan to gather educational resources and construct a presentation or workshop to empower the undergraduate students in my community. With this empowerment, I also want my peers and colleagues to feel inspired to be social advocates. Moving past the conclusion of the Fall 2023 semester, I would love to see this workshop grow into other communities and help impact students/employees in various professional settings.

About the Millennium Fellow

Angeline Pierre is a senior Biochemistry student at Florida Gulf Coast University in Estero, Fl. After having a personal experience with a mental crisis, she became driven to empower her peers and colleagues with skills that would guide suffering individuals to the right resources. After she graduates, Angeline plans to earn a Doctor of Medicine degree and work with individuals who are socioeconomically disadvantaged. She also plans to be involved with the improvement of bedside care and overall wellness for physicians and produce better outcomes for patients out of better physicians.
