Millennium Fellowship Project: Mindful Oasis

My project was to create the framework of a website for awareness of mental health. In this potential website, I researched the needed information that I believed to be vital for others to be informed on. The title of my project is "Mindful Oasis" which one day I hope to make a reality as an actual website with, articles, lists of all mental illnesses, community help, questionaries, and personalized videos of those who have had loved ones deal with mental health illnesses as they share their journey on how to navigate that world. I want to create a safe space for people to reach out and become more informed on what mental health illnesses are and how to understand what your loved going is going through. I want it to be an aid and I want to make it accessible for them to be able to reach out, read articles on advances in the mental health world, and be able to find people in their communities to reach out to for support.

About the Millennium Fellow

My name is Jennifer Chibas and I am a Biological Science major. My dream is to become a psychiatrists who specializes in adolescents in order to tackle their mental health from a young age. Mental health is a very broad field but there’s so much that goes into it, therefore I would love to focus on bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression primarily. I’ve seen how much individual can be affected by this mental illnesses and also how much their loved ones can also suffer and I just want to make their journey easier and as comfortable as possible. I want to destigmatize the views on these issues and to make talking about it more normal because we live in a society in which we don’t take these issues seriously specially family members didn’t grow up talking about these issues and to them is unknown.
