Millennium Fellowship Project: SCIENCOON CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION WORKSHOP
The SCIENCOON CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION WORKSHOP is a project that aims to bring to the notice of promising and passionate young scientists and engineers in the undergraduate and graduate level, the urgency of working effectively towards ensuring that clean water and sanitation becomes not just a mission but a reality in the lives of Nigerians and Africans in the coming decade.
It took two days to complete the workshop program and it included seminar talks on the journey so far and what we can do to contribute, as a science-oriented project, different experiments that are used to test for the quality and purity of water were also performed. Guests speakers from within and outside the walls of the university, students and non-students were given the platform to impact the lives of about 20 participants of the workshop.
The purpose of this project is to inspire young scientists and engineers to make use of their skills and knowledge and create innovative solutions that can immensely help in the actualisation of the SDG 7.
About the Millennium Fellow
Emmanuel Anoro is a student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure. Emmanuel is currently studying biochemistry at the aforementioned institution. He has always been passionate about science and technology since he was very young. He hopes to successfully work together with like minds and integrate science education amongst young Nigerians especially students. He believes that science and technology are fundamental for driving economic growth in any nation and this includes Nigeria. He has so far participated in a number of clubs whose vision includes fostering a positive acceptance of the importance of science and technology among young minds.
