Millennium Fellowship Project: Student United against Antimicrobial Resistance
Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness (ARA) programs aim to empower students in high school to become advocates for responsible antimicrobial use. These programs focus on educating students about the importance of proper antibiotic use, the risks associated with misuse, and the role of antimicrobial resistance in public health. Here are some key elements of these programs:
Education: ARA programs provide students with knowledge about the basics of antimicrobial resistance, the importance of antimicrobial stewardship, and the role of pharmacists in combating antimicrobial resistance.
Communication: Students are encouraged to communicate the importance of antimicrobial stewardship to their families and communities. This can help in raising awareness about the need for responsible antibiotic use and the risks associated with misuse.
Advocacy: ARA programs can inspire students to become advocates for responsible antimicrobial use. This may involve advocating for better access to antimicrobials, promoting the correct use of antimicrobials, and supporting policies that promote antimicrobial stewardship.
