Millennium Fellowship Project: Girls in Engineering
We were inspired to start Girls in Engineering (GIE) when reflecting upon the lack of engineering experiences given to K-12 students at Georgia Tech. With the challenges in transitioning from high school classes to studying engineering in college, we sought to create a program where high schoolers could learn about the engineering process early on. From the program, we hope to increase the number of women pursuing engineering degrees and careers.
About the Millennium Fellow
Emily is working on a a project called Girls in Engineering to allow female high school students from underserved areas to learn more about engineering. She is passionate about social equity and education and hopes to inspire other young women to pursue STEM-related careers.
