Millennium Fellowship Project: Be the Match at Georgia Tech
Be The Match is the United States National Bone Marrow Registry. They are a nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to helping every patient get the life-saving transplant they need. As it stands, there are significant disparities in the likelihood of obtaining a life-saving blood stem cell donation from a genetic match, which correlates with ethnicity. This results in care gaps between patients of different ethnic backgrounds. About the Millennium Fellow
Rachel Lynn Mason is a junior at Georgia Institute of Technology studying Biology with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. She is passionate about biomedical research and improving access to quality treatments. Having seen the effects of cancer up close, she became inspired to work with underserved populations and pursue research on cancer biology. She hopes to pursue an MD-PhD after graduation and continue to conduct medical research.
