Millennium Fellowship Project: Griffith University Drop-In Health Clinic
Griffith University ‘Pop up Health clinic’ provided drop-in services to university students, to foster a healthy, supported community. These stalls ran over the university trimester, and presented a variety of resources for students, such as: information from Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention, resources from Headspace, mindfulness tasks (i.e.guided meditations), resources for exam preparation (i.e. effective study techniques) and support giveaways (e.g. fruit, stress balls). The aim of this clinic is to link Griffith students with access to health resources, as well as an understanding as to how to look after their own wellbeing.
About the Millennium Fellow
Georgia Souyave-Murphy is a first year at Griffith University in Queensland, studying a Bachelor of Biomedical Science. Although raised in Australia, her multicultural upbringing and love of travelling, have given her a deep appreciation of diversity, perspectives and the world around her. She is extremely passionate about healthcare and social justice, and wants to utilise her studies, so that she can create a positive impact through her career. Driven by this, she hopes to pursue her dream of studying medicine after her undergraduate degree. Georgia's desire to create positive social change has lead her experience in various leadership teams, as well as in volunteer positions for local community groups and organisations. Through her Millennium Fellowship project, she hopes to improve healthcare accessibility to students on campus. To do this, her teams aims to utilise education to spread awareness of what resources are available, and make them more accessible to everyone.
