Millennium Fellowship Project: RadiantAware

The "Radiant aware" project envisions education of the public serving as a means of intervention to curb the increasing incidence of breast cancer. The project aims not to only educate the age group at risk but also younger generation to sensitise and stimulate their quest for deeper understanding and innovations in preventing the widespread of the disease.
The project was fulfilled at Jubilee High School, Orogun, Ibadan on 27th October, 2023 where over thirty (30) students and a few teachers were in attendance and there was a walk on breast cancer awareness on 9th November, 2023 also based on the education of the group of individuals at risk of breast cancer.
The program's foremost achievement was the illumination of various risk factors contributing to breast cancer incidence. Participants became cognizant of the threats posed by factors such as unhealthy dietary choices, sedentary lifestyles, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. This awareness will serve as the foundation for informed decision-making and proactive measures to mitigate these risks.
One of the speakers educated participants about lifestyle modifications that can enhance health and well-being and reduce the risk of breast cancer. The speaker effectively imparted knowledge on integrating regular exercise, adopting balanced dietary habits, managing stress, smoking cessation, reducing alcohol consumption, and ensuring adequate sleep. Participants emerged with a clear understanding of how to initiate and sustain these essential lifestyle changes.
Another substantial achievement of the program was the enlightenment of participants regarding the significance of a well-balanced diet. They were equipped with the knowledge to make informed choices, emphasizing the importance of incorporating a diverse range of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains into their diets. Practical examples were provided to facilitate the planning of nutritious meals.
The achievements within the awareness program for good health and well-being were marked by a profound transformation in participants' understanding of nature, risk factors, means of preventing breast cancer. Equally important were the educational achievements regarding lifestyle modifications, dietary choices, and the encouragement to educate others. By adopting a passive voice, the focus remains on the program's achievements, underscoring the positive impact it had on individuals and their communities.
