Millennium Fellowship Project: WasteSmart ICT

ICT is home to thousands of students, leading to ample waste generation daily. Being an aware and responsible youth, through our project "WasteSmart ICT: Say No to Landfills," our primary goal is to develop a zero-waste plan for our university. We aim to whittle away the garbage disposal in landfills and find practical solutions to ensure the repurposing and reprocessing of every waste within the premises- making the institute "self-sufficient."
Beginning by conducting a waste audit to get a gist of the current waste management system and the economics involved, we vision to proceed towards addressing the unsustainable aspects of it. This includes spreading awareness about the importance of waste segregation, such as dry and wet waste, biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, and their appropriate disposal. Post identification, looking through technically feasible interventions to go zero-waste, and updating the institute's waste policies will be aimed, thereby lessening the number of garbage truck visits.
Few of us collectively would be responsible for forming a novel club at ICT addressing the multitude of dimensions required for sustainable changes. Initiating waste management, we would later branch out into avenues focusing on other SDGs.
"None of us is as smart as all of us!"
