Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Endeavour

Endeavour means an attempt to achieve a goal. Hence, the project's name was inspired by the meaning behind the term. As the name implies the project was an initiative to put efforts in an attempt to impact climate change. The project aimed to understand the pyschological gap that leads to climate change denial and to raise awareness about the possible actions that should be taken to avoid the coming circumstances that we would have to face as a species. It aimed to conduct surveys and research on the lack of information people have regarding climate change in India , the unwarranted doubt people have on scientific consensus about the rate and extent of global warming, its significance, or its connection to human behaviour, in whole or in part. For instance, one will find people on Twitter denying the existence of climate change calling it a hoax. The reality, however, is quite different.
In order to carry out the project effectively, it was divided into steps that begin with the necessary research. The second step involved taking surveys using online platforms such as google form or visiting organisations offline to carry out the research. Third step was designing a website (UI/UX) design, a working prototype using figma to share information regarding the survey with the world online. The fourth step required me to organise a webinar based on the research and contemplation of the information gathered, and run interactive sessions to disseminate the necessary information such as debugging myths and conspiracy about scientific data and compel people to take action, particularly those involved in technology that can initiate change and also to educate people about concepts like citizen scientists and available technologies like NASA's observer app, which lets individuals better comprehend the ecology around them.
