Millennium Fellowship Project: CODE-ARC

The project aims to eradicate stereotypes in the engineering field especially among
young female scholars. By introducing them to easy Artificial Intelligence programming games like pictoblox and vex virtual robot that are fun and interractive, I have been able to develop interest in the young scholars. Due to misinformation, many of the young female scholars have been subjected to stigma in undertaking software engineering on the basis of complexity and they end up missing out on great opportunities that could uplift them in the innovative field. I use pictoblox, which is a platform for learning programming using command blocks rather than code syntaxes.
This makes programming easier so long as the individuals understand English. With
this they are able to create simple games that build their interest from which they
start looking forward to the bigger picture to become well equiped software engineers, increasing the pool of girls in STEM and innovations while bridging the gap of girls in ICT. The program also uses vex virtual robotics to teach about robotics and automation in the introductory faces to spark interest. This empowers a larger pool of innovators into the country's economy and springs up development.
