Mitigating plastic pollution at the Mombasa coast by involving the community through activities such as beach cleanups as well as Creating a recycling center (buy back shop ) for collection of plastic waste. These centers provide job opportunities to young people as they can be waste pickers and are paid for that

About the Millennium Fellow

Philomenah Muthoni Kang’ethe is a final year student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering. She lives and was born in Kenya. She is a lover and enthusiast of the environment. She is a winner of Mombasa Plastics Prize challenge at second position with a sustainable and innovative idea on marine plastic pollution.
