Millennium Fellowship Project: Education And Interaction
The project I am currently working on is the education of underprivileged children in kashmir. It has almost been a year that I've been working on this project with the help of an NGO namely Aashray foundation. The reason behind why I choose to work on this project is that I believe every child must have access to quality education as it helps in developing essential skills in them. An educated individual is more capable of navigating through hard times and contributing to the growth of society in comparison to an individual who never received formal education . I remember reading in a newspaper that nearly 12% of j&k population lives under below poverty line. Children from such families deal with the issue of illiteracy due to financial circumstances of their parents. The are deprived of opportunities to grow into a successful adult. With the help of this project I intend to provide support to such underprivileged children. With the aid of Aashray NGO we have been able to track such underprivileged students through school and home visits. Various programs were initiated by us. Apart from educational aid we've also tried to provide other support in the form of food, clothing , school fees, stationary and other basic necessities. I would further like to work on this project extensively. My plans to carry out this project involves to gather young students to impart education to poor and underprivileged kids. This can be done in orphanages where children are often deprived of quality education. We come across hundreds of children who are deprived of education and have been begging or doing other work to earn living. I aim to help such underprivileged children. Many children in j&k live in slums. Such children also need aid. For such purpose donation camps can also be organised so that they can be helped with basic educational facilities.
