Millennium Fellowship Project: UNMASKING REALITY IN THIS ERA
With the surge of depression and suicide,I came up with a project that offers students(mainly highschoolers) a platform to express themselves.I have incorporated methods such as one-on-one conversations, anonymous notes on what they experience(then you talk about it generally),questionnaires etc.Additionally,I have also written affirmation notes and done several talks on the matters facing the teenagers.I have witnessed improvement in several schools and it is my main motivation to keep progressing with tbe project and bring more volunteers on board.
About the Millennium Fellow
Cynthia Nyanchoka is a young scholar who has a deep interest in mental health advocacy.Due to the surge in suicide cases and mental disorders like depression, she has come up with a project that is going to help the marginalized in community ie children in orphanages and high schoolers in public schools to express themselves. It will also help to normalize the use of the response,"I am not fine" and with this, help can easily be administered and problems solved. She is looking forward to being instrumental in the goal to minimize mental health problems in the community.
