Millennium Fellowship Project: SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH EDUCATION

This project is about Sexual and Reproductive Health Education (SRHE) among the youth in my campus, community and country as a whole.
SRHE is a whole side of one's life that if not handled well can lead to loss of alot of dreams, alot of lives, wastage of a lot of valuable time in the young age, many wrong decisions that are costly and all this can lead to a variety of problematic outcomes like HIV/AIDS, Early pregnancies, Unwanted pregnancies, Unsafe abortions, school drop outs, gender based violence, contraction of STDs/ STIs, etc.
These affects young people more and the statistics to support this are very worrying for example in Uganda.

My project intends to provide/ is providing SRHE among young people in secondary schools, institutions and universities.
Topics being covered...
1. Healthy relationships.
2. Safe sexual practices.
3. Unsafe sexual practices and their impacts on Mental health.
4. Gender based violence.
5. HIV/AIDS
6. STIs and STDs.
7. Mindset change in regard to as SRHE.
8. Peer counselling.

This is being done through.
(at the moment)
1. Community physical engagements.
2. Zoom weibners.
3. Debates.
4. Podcasts.
5. Production of reading materials.
6. One on one counselling talks.
(With time)
7. Seminars.
8. Conferences.
9. Public lectures.
10. Radio/TV talk shows.

This project is targeting all young people in school mainly those that have reached adolescent stage and are of Reproductive age.

The impacts of this project is aimed at;
1. Mitigation of early pregnancies.
2. Mitigation of unwanted pregnancies.
3. Minimise spread of STIs/STDs.
4. End stigma against those with HIV/AIDS as well as minimising its spread.
5. Address gender based violence.
6. Address Mental Health issues arising from this area.
7. Development of safe sexual practices among young people in society.

The project is ongoing and by God's grace it shall achieve its intended results with time.

About the Millennium Fellow

I am OCERO RONALD FRANK, a second born in a family of eight. I am currently pursuing Bachelors degrees in Medicine and Surgery at Kampala International University Western Campus. I have had several outstanding leadership assignments one of which was ; District Coordinator under Mastercard Foundation Alumni at Brac Uganda (MFABU). I am passionate about young people and all aspects that surround their choices in life.
I am grateful to be part of the UN Millennium Fellowship class of 2023.
