Millennium Fellowship Project: Teen in Tech

The idea behind the project I to teach the teenagers and young adults computer skills especially in the area of programming. They would be taught how to bring out algorithms to solve issues and how to code. We would go to rural areas (at least 3 for this year) gather the teens in the school and hold a 3 months training. They would be taught hopefully all the basics in programming then the would specialise as time goes on. It is my goal that the kids that would be taught during the program would be assigned to mentors for mentoring so they sharpen the skills they would learn and begin to do real time projects focused on social impacts. These people who would be taught would also be trained to hold training programs and bootcamps so us that they would also reach more other people in the coming years. We would also teach them financial skills so that they can take charge of their financies from that young age. The financial session would be opened to the adults as well. Since the main sources of living in the rural areas is farming, they would be taught some effective ways of farming and storage and also how to invest thier money gotten from their harvest.

About the Millennium Fellow

Fredrick Andoh is a first year computer science student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana.
Fred is passionate about how he can be an impact to the people around him by making education accessible to everyone expecially in the field of I.T and computer science. He grew up in a town where the average student did not have access to a computer left alone talk about learning how to use it. This has birthed a passion in him to train and mentor the upcoming teens in computer related fields expecially programming and A.I. He believes knowledge in technological tools is essential to the development of every nation. This he believes would give access and information to the teens to help lead to the development of the Africa we want by 2063.
After graduating, he wishes to take a master of science degree in computer science and work as a software engineer to utilise technology to solve real world problems.
