Millennium Fellowship Project: Green Campus
Human activity, fueled by fossil fuels, emits harmful gases that damage our environment, health, and climate. The Lebanese American University produces 24,000+ tons of CO2 annually, equal to 7000 cars. To address this, my project proposes solar panels on rooftops, energy-efficient ideas, and awareness campaigns to shrink LAU's carbon footprint and inspire eco-conscious leaders.
About the Millennium Fellow
Lama Ayoub is currently enrolled as a third year student at the Lebanese American University where she specializes in Bioinformatics and pursues a minor in Data Analytics.
Lama has always been passionate about making a change. A year ago at her institution, she was able to identify a gap in the field of bioinformatics in Lebanon over which she conducted research for a year to better understand the students’ experience and report it. The final product consisted of a website she collaborated on with a fellow student which allows students to better understand what their next move can be in the field and seek advice or reconnect with old students.
This year she has been able to deliver training sessions for young minds about sustainable consumption and production through the youth sector of the Lebanese Red Cross.
Lama is an enthusiastic young woman who aspires to make the world a kinder and nicer place to live in. Her next project that she has devoted herself for is through the millennium fellowship where she will be inspecting recycling habits at her campus and working towards a greener space.
