Millennium Fellowship Project: Ujasiri x Emanate Foundation Uganda

The Ujasiri x Emanate Foundation Uganda collaboration strives to make a meaningful impact on gender equality within the region. The initiative aims to empower women and promote inclusivity through programs meant to give out free reusable pads to school going girls around the community and to educate them about menstrual health. The Emanate Foundation is a social group that is set up in response to the dire disregard of the rights and women in the community and world at large. The foundations’ major goal is advocacy for gender equality, providing a safe space for girls and women to share social life experiences and to educate each other about their rights embedded in the law.

About the Millennium Fellow

Edna Alinda is final year law student at Makerere University, Kampala Uganda. Edna is passionate about how the individual can have an impact on the world around them through social actions and kindness. She drew most of her inspiration from observing the challenges faced by the women in her country and the social-cultural constructs that deny several women an opportunity to live their dreams. Through her project, she hopes to help the girls in her community become empowered, inspired and confident in themselves.
