About the Millennium Fellow

Edrine Mark Mayende is a final year student pursuing a Bachelor's of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. Mark is passionate about improving food security both locally and globally, access to clean water and sanitation since these closely relate to the course he is pursuing. He says, some of the major causes of deaths in his country and globally are; hunger, poor hygiene and sanitation, lack of clean drinking water supply. He intends to achieve his ambitions through collaborations with the government and other NGOs, and the Millennium Fellowship will be a tool to bolster his communication skills with people from different backgrounds and social status. After he graduates, Mark hopes to enroll for a master's degree in the spheres of agricultural engineering, water and hydraulics or environmental engineering so he can broaden his knowledge and be an agent of change.
