Millennium Fellowship Project: Building a Resilient Campus and Community
In this project, we want to raise awareness about earthquakes and create a pilot safe zone against disasters. Our Project is divided into 6 topics. These are;
• Women and Children Rights
• Energy
• Climate Change
• Equality
• Global Poverty
• Economy
All my teammates are working on one of these topics. As a team, we are preparing presentations, posters, videos, etc. These materials will used as tools for raising awareness among young people. Firstly, we have been doing presentations on our campus and we are trying to expand our Project throughout the city of Manisa. Secondly, we are contacting with municipalities and governors for the pilot safe area on our campus.
In fact, the first step of this project is to raise awareness among people against earthquakes. As we have recently experienced during and after the earthquake disasters in our country in this year, global warming, failures in energy and telecommunications policies, ignoring gender equality, and economic inadequacies double the consequences of these disasters.
The second step includes the measures we should take after the earthquakes. Our dream is to assist as many victims of these earthquakes as possible to recover with minimum material and moral damage.
