Millennium Fellowship Project: Green Policies Workshops

I want to organize workshops that are about green policies on my campus. I believe that raising awareness and knowledge can lead to better results and campus is a place where people are very open to learning. I know that these topics draw the interest of students from campus. Whenever I attend a workshop that is about green policies, I always find someone from my university there. However, my university does not have a community assigned to this. I have thought of three workshops. The first one is about the conservation of the forests, hosting Nurbahar Usta. She is a Ph.D. student and specializes in that topic. That is also relevant to our campus life as the government wants to use a part of METU forests in order to make more roads. The second one is about animal rights, hosting Özge Özgüner. She is an intersectional activist who focuses on veganism and gender. She will be able to bring her inclusive view about the rights of the oppressed. The third one is about green, sustainable economics. I have thought of Bengisu Önenç from SEFIA (Sustainable Economics and Finance Association) as she will be able to explain how it is possible and achievable. The people I want to host are living in Ankara, so we will not need any transportation costs. I believe that by raising awareness of the green new deal and how it can be sustainable and inclusive, people will benefit from it. Also, after the workshops, like-minded people can gather and create new projects or share ideas together.
