Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Anpu
Project Anpu is intended to take art to the tribal settlements of Kerala, specifically the settlements of the district of Wayanad. This is to break the hegemony of the elite over art education and expression. As the second stage of Project Anpu, I would also like to extend the scope of this project to include education on safe menstrual practices and to tackle the issues of nutritional and health gaps that occur in geographically and socially isolated areas like the tribal settlements.
About the Millennium Fellow
Nandabala is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in History at Miranda House, University of Delhi. Born and brought up in Kerala, she is someone who finds joy in multiple things. She is a published poet who published her first book (Mazhavillu Kondu Varacha Thathakkili. a collection of poems in Malayalam) at the age of nine and her second book (Chocolate Gods, a collection of poems in English) at the age of nineteen. She is also a recipient of the Centre for Cultural Research and Training scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for dramatics. She is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer as well. Her interests are not limited to the artistic realm. If she is not on stage, you will find her reading in a corner. She uses her varied range of interests and passions to create social impact and lead change. The impact she is able to create in society, no matter how small, brings her an immeasurable amount of joy.
