Millennium Fellowship Project: Empowering girl child in the society

The project is all about empowering the disadvantaged girls for examples the young mothers ,expectant girls and the neglected adolescent girls. This project come as a result of high cases of school drop outs among young girls because of early pregnancies and forced marriages.I have been doing this project for some months now.I have been conducting some outreaches to the local schools ,churches and other social halls where in schools I have been able to interact with some girls who have been neglected by their parents because they are teenagers. Some parents are not willing to give them money to buy things like sanitary towels, with the excuse that they now women they have to cater for themselves and remember this are highschool and primary girls. Therefore, this girls girls opt to look for someone who can give money to access such things ,where those who are giving this girls money inturn demand sexual intercourse which may result to early pregnancies, early marriages and even sexual transmitted diseases like /AIDS among others. Therefore,in our outreacheswe have been guiding this girls on their rights what to do once their mistreat them effects of early pregnancies and early marriages among many other topics that maybe relevant to them.We have been trying to give them some materials like sanitary towels for the teens, books and pens but not most of them times because of funds problem. We have been contributing my colleaguesto support this girls even if we're campus students. It's so sad for a young girl to be impregnated and drop out of school because of KSH 20 for book or KSH 70 or KSH 100 for a sanitary towel.
For the young mothers we have been urging them to go back to school. For those who have been willing to go back to school we have been encouraging and motivating not loose hope on either monthly or weekly. This activities involves travelling from one school to another and from place to place. We hope to save more and more girls so as to have a better society
