Millennium Fellowship Project: Maternal and Newborn Care Advocacy Project
The objectives of this project were to provide short-term Maternal and Newborn care advocacy training for 20 secondary school students and 5 teachers, to couch and help secondary school students and their teachers on the creation of awareness and community mobilization on maternal and newborn health-seeking behavior and utilization of EmONC services and to create awareness on Danger signs in the pregnant mother and newborns in rural areas of northern Ethiopia. I and my colleagues from Arba Minch University Maternal and Reproductive Health PG students have trained 09 secondary school teachers and 25 students. These teachers and students will mobilize students and teachers in different schools and organize Maternal and Child health advocacy clubs which will work on maternal and child health advocacy and resource mobilization to help pregnant mothers in rural areas with the cost of transportation and medical expenses during pregnancy and delivery.
