Millennium Fellowship Project: Empower women

In my local community,I have seen very young girls get married ,get unwanted pregnancies, drop out school ,die while aborting, some are raped and they can't speak up until it's too late and this has been the trend except for one or two homes. This has greatly affected the economy due to many unemployed young mothers with many children to provide for, health since most of these mothers can't afford the available health services, they cannot seek them either, malnourished babies and many health challenges of teenage mothers ,literacy level since parents don't see the importance of educating a girl who will eventually drop out . I believe the neighboring communities are not any different
Through my engagements with a few of them,I realised that these young women are not informed, they are unhappy with their situation but don't know what to do.
They lack knowledge, are not motivated, have lost all hope and most of them are just doing casual work to get what to eat with no future plans for themselves and most importantly their children, they have no idea about their their rights, and how much they can do as women.
Through my project,I intend to target women of 15to 25 years, organise them in groups and teach them the importance of education, encourage each one of them to have an eaducation plan for their children for those who have, and encourage those who are in school to keep it up, teach them their rights as women ,how far they can go through bringing women who have made it in life to talk to them, teach them about menstrual hygiene and family planning methods available and how they can use them
Encourage group visit, to churches, community gatherings to educate about sexual reproductive health through plays, poems, one on one talks.
I believe this will greatly influence their decision making and help those affected to speak, knowledge is power and I believe a well informed community is the starting point for global health
