Millennium Fellowship Project: The Trash Transformation Initiative (T.T.I.)
The Trash Transformation Initiative (T.T.I), initiated by passionate and devoted Millennium Fellowships from Mzuzu University, aimed to address the first Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of "No Poverty" while promoting environmental sustainability in the Luwinga community. To combat the trash problem, the T.T.I. project was designed as a three-month initiative, combining community action, education, and entrepreneurship. It sought to create a greener environment and economic opportunities for the disadvantaged through clean-up campaigns, recycling awareness, and training for recycling enterprises. The project focuses on reaching an even wider audience by collaborating with local schools, businesses, and community organizations. This will help create a sustained impact and increase recycling awareness.
About the Millennium Fellow
Joyce Zimba, a level 4 Education student with a profound interest in geography and English, is deeply committed to environmental causes. She assumes the role of a climate activist and fervent advocate for a more sustainable world, tirelessly working towards a greener future. Beyond her academic pursuits and activism, Joyce is a skilled photographer, capturing the beauty of our environment through her lens. Her photography serves as a testament to the remarkable experiences and breathtaking scenery that inspire her love for our planet.
