Millennium Fellowship Project: Chi Sigma Scholars
Chi Sigma Scholars is a mentorship program for Boston Public School high school students that leverages resources already established within the Boston community to improve students' career outlooks through individualized professional mentorship. Boston is a city with a vibrant, large college population of go-getters ready to make a difference. One way to improve outlooks for students in resource-barren high schools not prioritized by the city is by utilizing college students as mentors in a new program: Chi Sigma Scholars. Collegiate members of Professional Co-ed Business Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi are trained in various facets of the professional world: resume review, interview prep, etc. Chi Sigma Scholars would pair qualified Northeastern Alpha Kappa Psi brothers with high school students who do not have the resources, knowledge, or support to further their career or college goals but want to do so. This program is beneficial for Northeastern University and its students to become more involved and impactful in their Boston community and for the Boston Public School system as well since this program provides accessible constructive long-term growth opportunities for its students. The personal mentorship connections provide better outcomes for the high school students helped by the program.
