Millennium Fellowship Project: Shuchi

Our project seeks to create a sustainable society by changing our approach towards waste management. Our goal is to establish a decentralized waste management system by promoting societal awareness and individual action.

To achieve this, we plan to sort waste into four main categories: organic waste, recyclable plastic waste, hazardous waste, and non-recyclable waste. We will compost biodegradable waste for use in campus horticulture programs.

Recyclable plastic waste will be sold through government or private entities to raise funds for awareness programs. Hazardous waste will be safely disposed of instead of being mixed with other waste and sent to landfills.

To eliminate non-biodegradable waste like single-use plastics, we will work with the administration to find economically and practically feasible alternatives while also conducting recycling drives.

Through our program, we aim to reduce waste generation and implement proper waste management practices. Sensitization drives, volunteer-led cleanliness drives, and fundraising programs will support the initiative and generate revenue through the sale of scrap waste and compost.

In summary, our project is focused on creating a sustainable society by implementing effective waste management practices through community awareness and individual action, with a focus on reducing waste generation and promoting proper waste addressal.
