Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Vidya Shakti (Empowering Education for Tribal Girls)
Project Vidya Shakti is a transformative 6-month initiative operating under the United Nations Millennium Fellowship. The project is centered on addressing the high middle school dropout rates among tribal girls in Jharkhand, India. The multifaceted approach involves tackling key barriers to education, including poverty, cultural norms, and the absence of role models. Through financial support, changes in cultural norms, provision of role models, and offering academic and life skills support, Vidya Shakti aims to create sustainable interventions that empower these young girls and enhance their access to education.
About the Millennium Fellow
Dipendu Das is a law student from National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi, India. He is holding a vast experience in Research, Policy Analysis, Legal Drafting and Administrative activities. He is presently serving as the Convener of Indian Centre for Child and Human Rights (ICCHR). He have worked with various UN associate organisations including UNESCAP, UNICEF, UNAI and WTO. For more than two years he have been constantly working on the social sector of promoting education, livelihood and welfare within the community.
