Millennium Fellowship Project: Locked Up and Forgotten: The State of Under-trial Prisoners in the State of Jharkhand
The project was based on the living conditions of the under-trial prisoners confined in the jails of jharkhand. As majority of these people belong to the marginalized part of the society who do not have adequate resources to pay for good legal services out of their own pockets, their cases are often sidelined and they end up serving years in prison while still being on trial. Our objective was to understand how the prison authorities are looking after them and to what extent they're being supported by the system while they are on trial.
