Millennium Fellowship Project: Flood Mitigation System

This project proposes the development of an innovative Climate Advocacy and Flood Awareness System aimed at addressing this critical issue. The system's primary objective is to provide real time river depth data from flood prone areas, effectively alerting local newsrooms and communities, particularly in remote regions like Chimanimani. Zimbabwe, like many other regions across the globe, faces the devastating consequences of floods, especially during the rainy seasons. Often, these disasters strike with little to no warning, leaving communities vulnerable to their destructive power. Moreover, in rural areas such as Chimanimani, additional hazards accompany floods, including encounters with dangerous creatures like crocodiles.
