Millennium Fellowship Project: Shanghai Migrant Children Wellness & Development Platform
Our project focused on enhancing the well-being and development of migrant children in Shanghai. It involved conducting comprehensive research to understand the unique challenges faced by these children, primarily in terms of socioeconomic background, educational marginalization, and emotional well-being. The primary aim was to establish a foundational understanding that would guide the development of practical and sustainable interventions. Collaborative efforts with NGOs, educational institutions, and community programs were central to our approach, aiming to create a lasting positive impact on the lives of migrant children.
About the Millennium Fellow
Yucheng Bao is a senior student at NYU Shanghai, majoring in social sciences (psychology concentration) with an economics minor. Academically, Yucheng focuses on children's and adolescents' mental development, especially their emotional socialization and resilience construction. Through this project, he wants to pay more attention to the psychological development of the migrant children in Shanghai and to develop better educational practices regarding this specific demographic group. After he graduates, Yucheng plans to earn a further degree in education or developmental psychology field, devoted to finding a combination between academics and practices.
