Millennium Fellowship Project: Green NYC: Compostables and Circularity

Our project focused on different community centers and organizations scattered throughout the city that have been neglected by major green movements. What we did was sought out community centers that host mass dinners for those in need, religious gatherings, etc. and transitioned them fully away from single-use plastic cutlery and towards compostable items. Finally, we aimed to bring in an outside composting facility to pick up the waste from these locations and close the loop of sustainable circularity. This project would place these, usually underdeveloped and underrecognized communities at the forefront of the green movement.
