Millennium Fellowship Project: The Heal G(irl) Initiative
This project is titled "HEAL G(IRL) which is powered by the Sustainable Development Goal "SDG 3" ( Good health and well being)
Mental health is more than absence of mental disorders, it exists on a complex continuum which is experienced differently from one person to the next, with varying degrees of difficulty and distress and potentially very different social and clinical outcomes. Mental health conditions include mental disorders and psychological disabilities as well as other mental state associated with significant distress, impairment in functioning or risk of self harm.
According to the statistics released by World health organization on 2022 world mental health day, it indicates the youth mental health crisis continue to grow and despite what many may believe, mental disorder is very common among youths especially young girls between the age of 10 and 25 which covers 33.2% as a result of many factors like depression, anxiety and so on. To reduce the rate of the complexity of mental health among young girls, this project is aimed at providing information to young girls on how to cope, manage and prevent any factor that can affect their mental health which will be aiming to rescue and train a total minimum of 200 girls per year by organizing a bimonthly secondary school outreach to increase awareness about mental health among young girls, building and establishing a social media page where periodic rich content will be projected to further increase awarenesses, organizing seminars and partnering with health organization for periodic checkups and readily available medical attention.
