Millennium Fellowship Project: Soiless farming Training

The Soiless farming training was centred around training Agricultural students and farmers on how to grow vegetables using hydroponics. It was a three days training with two days physical classes and an online training.
Day 1 was centred around introducing participants to vegetable production and what hydroponics entails as to how it helps to provide healthy food for the consumers, gives the plant a good condition to grow and it is healthy for the environment. There were also teachings on why every individual must get involved in food production. They were also introduced to materials used for hydroponics.
Day 2 which was an online training was focused on the business of hydroponics. It explains how participants can run a successful vegetables business alongside producing healthy food.
Day 3 which was a physical training was focused on the practicals of setting up an hydroponics system, preparing the nutrients and growing of seedlings.
A total of 48 persons participated in the training with about 68% females present.

About the Millennium Fellow

Oluwadarasimi Adedapo is a Christian, an agricultural enthusiast, she is the Team lead of SIMI AGROPLACE which is targeted towards ensuring people have access to healthy Vegetables, She is also the Founder of AgVille focused on foster more sustainable impacts in Africa’s agricultural system through youth tailored involvement in keeping the continent more food secure.

She is a Soiless farmer and has trained over 1000 youth on Hydroponics on different platforms like Work and Learn Training, AgricTech Free Skill Training by Ogun Innovate, The Technology and Entrepreneurship Academy by Africa for Africa youth initiative in conjunction with BLW University campus amongst others. She is a food security advocate working towards Zero Hunger.
