Millennium Fellowship Project: Research Paper on formation of UN Militia
This paper proposes the establishment of a robust and efficient military system within the United Nations (UN) alongside the existing UN Peacekeeping Force (UNPKF), incorporating necessary adjustments to its operations. The primary goal of this project is to forge a more resilient and effective framework, drawing valuable lessons from the past shortcomings of the current Peacekeeping force. Furthermore, this initiative puts forth a sustainable funding model that amalgamates multilateral contributions, voluntary support, resource sharing, specialized funding pools, and a short-term endowment fund. This multidimensional strategy guarantees the force's continuity and operational efficacy. Finally, a thorough examination of current crises, including the war in Russia-Ukraine, the crisis in Afghanistan, and the Israel-Hamas conflict, highlights the urgent need for quicker, more effective, and internationally reputable responses to complex and quickly developing global crises.
